We’re well-established, well-funded, and built for the long haul — but we also believe in thinking ahead, so here’s an honest answer.
Quilt is designed on durable foundations. That means your comfort isn’t contingent on our servers staying online. A software update rolling out soon will allow the Dial Thermostat to communicate directly with your indoor unit over your home Wi-Fi network — no internet connection required. So even if your internet goes down, you stay in control as long as your Wi-Fi is running.
Your indoor units also have IR receivers, which means they can be operated by any standard universal mini-split remote if Quilt ever ceased to exist. You’d have fewer smart features while retaining full basic temperature control. And because Quilt is built on standard heat pump technology, any qualified HVAC technician can service your system the same way they would any other HVAC equipment — no proprietary service required.
We also back every system with up to a 12-year warranty on parts and compressor for the heat pump system, and a 3‑year warranty on the Dial and QSM — with no registration required. That’s not a short-term commitment.
And in the unlikely event we ever did sunset? We’d go out responsibly with a final “offline-complete” firmware update that would keep your system functional without cloud services. Our repair manuals and hardware documentation would remain publicly accessible, so your investment is never stranded.
Quilt is built to last — and so is your home comfort.
